of fear and distrust which demoralised Salem from 1692 to 1694. In the attempt to bring the glad tidings of emancipation from the operation of physical law, which is sometimes cruel, Mrs. Eddy had come back to the cruelest of all debasing superstitions—that of attributing disease and misfortune to a malevolent human agency.
