"Early in its history, the Brahma Samaj of India issued two publications which had for their motto the following golden lines (in Sanskrit):—

"This wide universe is the sacred temple of God.
The mind is the purest pilgrimage; Truth is the imperishable Scripture.
Faith is the root of Religion, and Love is the great realisation thereof.
The destruction of selfishness is asceticism.
By the Brahmos these things are inculcated."
