Mr. Dalton has served the office of Churchwarden ; is an Alderman of the City, and was Mayor in 1873. He presented to the Corporation the massive gold chain of office now worn by the Mayor.




Lectern.

This handsome brass lectern was manufactured by Mr. F. A. Skidmore. Round the globe on which rests the feet of the Eagle are these words—

"Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God."

On the base is inscribed—

"To the glory of God and for | the use of S. Michael's Church | Coventry this lectern has been | placed in this chancel from a | legacy by the late John Royle | Solicitor of this City MDCCCLXVII."

Thos. Little was Churchwarden 1763. This business was carried on for many years under the style of Little and Woodcock (John Woodcock having taken the name of Little), in High Street, and was transferred in 1865 to the Birmingham Banking Company, which suspended payment in less than 12 months after.
