Avalokiteśvara

The Bodhisattva ("Buddha To Be") Avalokiteśvara bears the expression of calm and benevolence, which is in conformity with his love for mankind. In his left hand he bears a lotus, and his right hand is held in the position which conventionally expresses favour to suppliants.
