wrote in the earth. 7When they therfore continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said to them: [1] He that is without sinne of you, let him first throw the stone at her. 8And againe bowing himself, he wrote in the earth. 9And they hearing, went out one by one, beginning at the Seniours: and Jesus alone remained, and the woman standing in the middes. 10And Jesus lifting up himself, said to her: Woman, where are they that accused thee? hath no man condemned thee? 11Who said: No man, Lord. And Jesus said, [2] Neither wil I condemne thee. Goe, and now sinne no more.✠

The Ghospel upon Saturday the 4. weeke in Lent.12Againe therfore Jesus spake to them, saying: I am the light of the world: he that followeth me, walketh not in darkenesse, but shal have the light of life. 13The Pharisees therfore said to him: Thou givest testimonie of thy self; thy testimonie is not true. 14Jesus answered, and said to them: Although I doe give testimonie of my self, my testimonie is true: because I know whence I came, and whither I goe: but you know not whence I come, or whither I goe. 15You judge according to the flesh: I doe not judge any man. 16And if I doe judge, my judgement is true: because I am not alone, but I and he that sent me, the Father. 17And in your law it is written, that Deu. 17, 6. 19, 15.* the testimonie of two men is true. 18I am he that give testimonie of myself: and he that sent me, the Father, giveth testimonie of me. 19They said therfore to him: Where is thy Father? Jesus answered: Neither me doe you know, nor my Father. If you did know me, perhaps you might know my Father also. 20These words Jesus spake in the Treasurie, teaching in the Temple, and no man apprehended him, because his houre was not yet come.✠

The Ghospel upon Munday the 2. weeke of Lent.21Againe therfore Jesus said to them: I goe, and you shal seeke me, and shal die in your sinne. Whither I goe, you can not come. 22The Jewes therfore said: Why, wil he kil himself, because he saith, Whither I goe, you can not come? 23And he said to them: You are from beneath, I am from above. You are of this world, I am not of this world. 24Therfore I said to you that you shal die in your sinnes. For if you beleeve not that I am he, you shal die in your sinne. 25They said therfore to him: Who art thou? Jesus said to them: [3] The beginning who also speake to you. 26Many things I have to speake and judge of you. But he that sent me, is true: and what I have heard of him, these things I speake in the world. 27And they knew not that he said to them that his Father was God. 28Jesus therfore said to them: When you shal have exalted the Sonne of man, then you shal know that I am he, and of myself I doe nothing, but as the Father hath taught me, these things I speake: 29and he that sent me, is with me: and he hath not left me alone, because the things that please him I doe alwayes.✠ 30When he spake these things, many beleeved in him.

31Jesus therfore said to them that beleeved him, the Jewes: If you [4] abide in my word, you shal be my disciples indeed. 32And you shal know the truth, and the truth shal make you free. 33They answered him: We are the seed of Abraham, and we never served any man: how sayest thou, You shal be free? 34Jesus answered them:
