The Emperor Joseph II. of Austria conferred upon him (1782) the honour of a free Baron of the Holy Roman Empire, with limitations to his issue male and female, and he was authorised by r.l. to boar the title in this country (grandson of .Sir John Dillon, of Lismullen, co. Meath, Knt. M.P.); died 1805, having m. 1767, Millicent, dau. of George Drake, Esq. of Fernhill, Berks ; she d. 1788, having had 5 sons and 3 daus. (1) Sir Charles Drake Dillon, 2nd Baronet, and a Baron of the Holy Roman Empire ; b. 8 June, 1770; d. 12/16 Jan. 1840, having m. 1st— 29 Sept. 1792, Charlotte, dau. of John Hamilton, Esq. sometime secretary at war for Ireland; she d. s. p. 23 June, 1793. He m. 2ndly— Oct. 1828, Sarah, widow of Rev. John Ca,stelton Miller, d.d. rector of Milton, Northants. (2) Sir Arthur Richard, 3rd Baronet, geu. in the army (see Gent.
