COLIN MACKENZIE, " 1 1th Baron of KintaU," was engaged on the part of Q. Mary at the battle of Langside, P.C. James VI. ; d. 14 June, 1594, having m. 1st, Barbara, eldest dau. of John Grant, of Grant, and had wth 2 daus. 4 sons, [1] Kenneth, created Lord Mackenzie, of Kintail, 19 Nov. 1609; d. Mar. 1611, having m. 1st, Anne, dau. of George Boss, of Balnagowan. He m. 2ndly, Isabel, dau. of Sir Gilbert Ogilvy, of Powrie; she re-m. to Hon. John Seton, of Barns, and d. Sept. 1618. His eldest son, Colin, was created EARL OF Seajford 3 Dec. 1623, with remainder to his heirs male. William, 5th Earl, engaged in the rebellion 1715, for which he was attainted by Act of Parliament and his estates in England and Scotland forfeited to the crown. His grandson Kenneth was created Baron of Ardelie, co. "SVicWow, and Viscount of Fortrose, in Ireland, 18 Nov. 1766, and Eael OP Seaforth, also in Ireland, 3 Dec. 1771, but d. s. p. Aug. 1781. Francis Humberston Mackenzie, great-gi-andson of Kenneth, 4th Earl of Seaforth, was created LORD SEAFORTH, Baron Mackenzie, of Kintail, in the Peerage of Great Britain, 26 Oct. 1797, governor of Barbadoes 1800, 8, Ueut.-gen. in the army; d. without male issue 11 Jan. 1815. COLIN MACKENZIE m. 2ndly, Mary, eldest dau. of Roderick Mackenzie, of Davochmalnack, and had a son, [5] Alexander, of Coul, d. 1650, having m. 1st, AnnabeUa, dau. of Murdoch Mackenzie, of Fairbum. He m. 2ndly, Christian, dau. of Hector Mvinro, of Assyut, by whom he had with other issue a sou viz. — SIB KENNETH MACKENZIE, of Coul, high sheriff Ross and Inverness-shire, created a BARONET OF NOVA SCOTiA 16 Oct. 1673, ■with remainder to his issue male. He m. 1st, eldest dau. of Alexander Cliisholm, of Comar, and 2ndly, dau. of Thomas Mackenzie, of luvertaU. By his 1st wife she had 3 son, viz. [1] Sir Alexander, 2nd Baronet; d. 1702, having m. 1st, Jean,(t) dau. of Sir Robert Gordon, of Gordonstoun, and had 2 sons, (1) Sir John, 3rd Baronet, joined the Earl of Mar and attainted 1715 ; m. 1st, Margaret, dau. of Hugh Rose, of Kilravock, and 2ndly, 1703, Hon. Helen Murray, dau. of Patrick, Lord EUbank, and had a dau. by each marriage. (t) Sir Alexander, 2nd Baronet, m. 2ndly, Janet Johnstone, and had, AViUiam, Simon, James, Margaret, (2) Sir Colin assume<l the title, and became 4th Baronet, clerk to the pipe in the exchequer; d. 1740, having m. Henrietta, dau. of Sir Patrick Houston, of that ilk. His great-grandson, Sir George Steuart, s. as 7th Baronet. [2] Simon, of Torridon and Lenthron, had saisin 1672 and 1694; m. 1673, Catherine, 2nd dau. of John Mackenzie, of Apple- cross. His grandson, John Mackenzie, of Torridon, served with Prince Charles Edward at Chilloden (son of Kenneth and Ann Mackenzie, of Gairloch) ; m. Isobel, dau. of Kenneth Mackenzie, of Dundonnel, and had with a dau. 2 sons, (1) Kenneth, of London, solicitor, sold Torridon to his brother; m. Cockerell, and had a son Kenneth, father of John Scott Mackenzie, who died, 1859. (2) John, of Torridon, by purchase; d. 20 Jan. 1820, aged 66, having m. Anne Isobella Vandam, of HoUaud; she d. 3 May, 1831, having had 4 sons, /I/ John, of Torridon, which he sold to James Stewart Mackenzie, Esq. of Seaforth; d. s. p. 1852, having m. Katharine TaUop; she d. 1844. /2/ Anthony, d. unm. 1824. /3/ Charles, prebendary of St. Paul's Cathedral, and rural ilean, vicar of St. Helens Bishopsgate, rector of St. Benet Gracechurch, St. Leonard Eastcheap, and St. Dionis Back- church; b. 28 Feb. 1807; m. 9 July, 1832, Henrietta, dau. of Henry Simonds, Esq. of Reading, and has had with other issue a son and 4 daus. [1] Henry Douglas, capt. and adj. Australian art. late lieut. H.ir.s. "Britannia"; b. 26 Sept. 1849; m. 7 Jan. 1873, Julia Nina Solfala, dau. of Bligh Suttor, Esq. of Wyagdon, Bathurst, N.S.W. and has 2 sons and 2 daus. Dudley Bligh Douglas, b. 26 Dec. 1875. —A son, b. 19 Sept. 1879.— Maude Nina Douglas.— Helen Douglas. [2] Mary Louisa, m. 25 Mar. 1856, to Rev. Alexander David Francis Priugle, vicar of Blakeney, co. Glouc. and has 3 sons and 6 daus.
