ROBINSON. 537 QIR ABRAHAM ROBERTS, G.C.B. 1873, general In the iO army 1864, joined Waterford militia 1801, 48tl> regt. 1803, entered Indian army 1804, col. 101st fusiliers 1862/73, served under Lord Lake in the Sutlej 1805, in Biindhilcnud against the Pindarees and at the sieges of Komona and Gunowrie 1806/7, &c. &c. ; commanded his regiment at Birla Ke Tehee, when he captured the chief and routed the enemy, Dec. 1814 ; commanded a brigade in Afglianistan 1838/9, and was at the storming and capture of Ghuznee, for which he received medal and the 2nil class Dooranee order; C.B. 1840; b. at Waterford 11 April, 1784; d. 28 Dec. 1873. He m. 1st— 25 July, 1820, Frances Isabella, dau. of George Poyntz Ricketts, Esq. B.C.S. (V. ST. VINCENT); she d. 14 May, 1827, having had a son and 2 daus. /I/ George Ricketts, major-gen. late Bengal S.C; b. 8 Feb. 1827; m. 6 Mar. 1857, Harriet, only dau. of Major Thomas Roberts, 51st Bengal N.l. and has surviving issue 2 daus. Anne, dau. of Sir George Whitmore, Knt. of Barnes, Surrey (she re-m. to Shenton, Esq.), and had issue. His grandson, SIR GEORGE, 5th Baronet (on the death of his father Sir John, 31 Aug. 1765), m.p.
