Ross, L.L. 1881, major Ross mil. 1870/4, convener Ross-shire 1856 [great-great-great- grandson of (Sir) Kenneth Mackenzie, 8th Baron of Gairloch, said to have been created a Baronet of Xova Scotia, by Douglas in 1 703, by Playfair in 1 723, by Burke's Peerage 1834 in 1629, and by the pre- sent (Sir) Kenneth 22 Feb. 1702 3]. In Douglas's Peerage (E. Cbomaety) Alexander Mackenzie of Gairloch is said to have married Barbara Mackenzie, sister of 1st Earl of Cromarty, and to have been father of Sir Kenneth Mackenzie (the supposed 1st), Bart, of Gairloch.
