GOOJUR ZEMINDARS.
(346)

THE Plate shows a party of Goojur zemindars, who are farmers or cultivators, with one of their strong and very useful carts. These are used for the transport of grain or forage to Agra, or any city or town of the North-West Provinces, and will carry heavy loads. The drivers frequently travel in companies, having taken contracts for carriage and safe delivery of goods, in which respect they are esteemed most trustworthy. They also accompany forces or regiments marching from on station to another and in all respects form the chief transport of the Upper Provinces.
