The Secretary of State for the Environment, the Secretary of State for Scotland
and the Secretary of State for Wales make these Regulations and give these
Directions in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 25, 54 and 55 of the
Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1967[1] and by the provision in column 5 of Part I
of Schedule 4 to the Road Traffic Act, 1972[2] which relates to section 22 of that
Act, and now vested in them[3], and of all other enabling powers, and after
consultation with representative organisations in accordance with section 107(2)
of the said Act of 1967 and section 199(2) of the said Act of 1972 (the said powers
being exercised by the said Secretaries of State either jointly or separately as
respects England, Scotland and Wales in the manner set out in Part 1 of Schedule
8 to these Regulations).
PART 1---TRAFFIC SIGNS REGULATIONS SECTION I
Preliminary
Citation 1. These Regulations may be cited as the Traffic Signs Regulations 1975.
Revocation
2. (1) The Traffic Signs Regulations 1964[4] and the Regulations specified in Part 1 of Schedule & which amend those Regulations are hereby revoked, and the said Regulations of 1964 as so amended are hereinafter in these Regulations referred to as "the Regulations of 1964".
(2) The Traffic Signs (School Crossing Patrols) Regulations 1968[5] are hereby revoked.
