(SECOND TUNE)

HAZEL. (7 7. 7 7. 8 8.) Words by John Ellerton (1820-1803).
Basil Harwood (1859- ).

1. Now the la-bourer's task is o er;
Now the bat-tle day is past;
Now up-on the far-ther shore
Land the voy-a-ger at last.

2. There the tears of earth are dried;
There its hid-den things are clear;
There the work of life is tried
By a just-er Judge than here.

3. There the sin-ful souls, that turn
To the Cross their dy-ing eyes,
All the love of Christ shall learn
A his feet in Par-a--dise.

4. There no more the powers of hell
Can pre-vail to mar their peace;
Christ the Lord shall guard them well,
He who died for their re - -lease.

5. 'Earth to earth, and dust to dust,'
Calm-ly now the words we say;
Leav-ing him to sleep in trust
Till the Re-sur-rec-tion - day
