Some twelve miles before we came to Rome, we saw the Cupola of St. Peters Church, and were as glad to see it afarr off, as the weary Trojans in Æneas his Company, were glad to see Italy after so much wandering. Some few hours after, having passed by an old Tombe, which some call Nero's Tombe, and over the Ponte Molo (of which more in my 2. Part) we entred into Rome by the Via Flaminea, and Porta del Populo.
