Apsides, both lines corresponding to the same ones used on the celestial sphere or the Zodiac. These lines, called the "Celestial Cross," ( + ) divide the tarot into four grand quarters, corresponding to the four seasons and the four quarters of the Zodiac, as well as the four chapters of the Test Book.

Beginning at the lower celestial meridian the houses of the Zodiac run around the outside in regular order as shown in cut.

SIGNS OF THE ZODIAC ON TAROT.

The central part is the "place of the sun," and represents power and glory in the ancient symbolism. It too, is divided into four quarters, so that the tarot really expresses, not only the twelve houses of the Zodiac, but the four quarters at the same time.

The seven planets and the earth constitute with their satellites eight grand centers of vibratory force, or astral magnetism, in our solar system. The 4x4 tarot with its circle of planets in the female line and its cross, X, in the male line, represents them in their two-fold qualities, corresponding to the positive and negative in nature.
