But when the Thunder of the War grew loud,
Himself, protected from the Hostile Crowd,
His ample Target to the Warrior lent,
In time of Need, his Danger to prevent:
The youthful Teucer this Asylum chose,
And dar'd, Secure, the thickest of his Foes;
Aurelia spoke—the rest her Words rever'd,
And all around their mingled Shouts were heard.

Where Praise so just is due, the Grateful Muse,
Disdains her humble Tribute to refuse;
Hail Spacious Canopy, spread Heav'nly wide!
What Wonders dost thou show what Wonders hide?
Could I but half thy num'rous Beauties tell,
For ever on the Lovely Theme I'd dwell.
