To the names of Roman Stations, upon the position of which there is a difference of opinion, several of the localities suggested have been appended, as their inclusion in this list is not for the purpose of giving information about Roman Britain, but to give the meaning of the names when used in later times. It has not been thought necessary always to insert Latin names where they are merely the common English names with a Latin termination. When no county is added to the English name, the reason usually is that there are more than one place of the same name.
