In the end the invisible player becomes rather a nuisance, playing practical jokes, breaking windows, and creating general confusion. He even snatches away the food at meals and then jeeringly plays his flute in a corner. Finally he is driven away by means of rhyming incantations. (Mullenhaff, Sagen Märchen.)
