miliary abscesses of the liver amœbæ may be demonstrated lying amongst the necrotic cells; even in inflamed liver tissue which has not yet proceeded to pus formation they may be occasionally recognized.

Pathogenic bacilli have not been isolated from the heart's blood or from other organs.
