STUDENT FRIENDS.

i.

FRANK, I had left you, lost you,
Drowned in the rush of days;
All the old time was ended,
Blurred with a twilight haze.

Only I knew, with you, Frank,
Somewhere the world was blessed-
Blessed with a spirit steadfast,
Soul that my youth loved best.

Thus I was biding softly,
Mining my way to light;
Hewing the tough old problems,
Working for day through night.
