NOTES:
- This sign should be used if works consist of surface dressing. The signs should be placed far enough in advance of the loose chippings to allow drivers to slow down and retained as long as the loose chippings persist; see paragraph D3.18.7.
- A distance plate to diagram 572 is required for roads with a permanent speed limit of 50mph or more.
- On roads with a permanent speed limit of 50 mph or more a distance is required on the diagram 518 plate.
