NOTES:
- Sign 7010.1 should be located so that drivers can see that it is the slip road ahead and not the roundabout that is closed.
- Keys to the plan are given in Tables A1.4 and [../A1#table1/5|A1.5]] of Appendix 1.
O11.6ROADS WITHOUT A HARD SHOULDER
O11.6.1 This section primarily gives guidance for use of the Mobile Carriageway Closure technique on carriageways with a hard shoulder. However, it is also appropriate to use the technique on roads when a hard shoulder is not present. In this case, the guidance will differ in the following ways.
- Advance warning vehicles. If it is not possible to locate vehicle-mounted queue warning signs off the carriageway at convenient locations, appropriate static queue warning signing should be used. Prior to the operation, the "traffic queues likely on road ahead" sign to diagram 584 with plate "Queues likely" to diagram 584.1 should be placed at 500 m intervals alternately on the near side and off side of the carriageway from the point where it is planned to first establish the closure up to the start of the works area.
