W. SCOTT SLOCUM
Lieutenant Commander, USN
Commanding Officer

Lieutenant Commander SLOCUM entered the Navy through the contact NROTC program at Princeton University. After graduation in 1968 he served as Material Officer and Combat Information Center Officer in USS DYESS (DD 880). In 1970 he reported to the pre-commissioning detail for USS DETROIT (AOE 4), and served as Electronics Material Officer and Operations Officer. After a tour as as student at the SWOS School Department Head Course in Newport, Rhode Island, Lieutenant Commander SLOCUM served on Destroyer Squadron TWENTY Staff before proceeding to the pre-commissioning detail for USS THOMAS C. HART (FF 1092). In 1975 he reported to the Commander, Navy Recruiting Command, as Aide and Flag Lieutenant, after which he reported to the experimental patrol hydrofoil HIGH POINT (PCH 1) as Officer-in-Charge. From 1978-1980 Lieutenant Commander SLOCUM attended the Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration from which he received an MBA before reporting to his present assignment. His awards include the Navy Commendation Medal and Navy Achievement Medal. He is married to the former Carol Jean Hehre of New Haven, Connecticut. The Slocums reside in Bremerton, Washington with their son Benjamin and daughter Jessica.
