Field Manuals (FM)

FM 3-05 Army Special Operations, January 2014
Field Manual 3-05, Army Special Operations, provides the United States (U.S.) Army special operations forces commander and staff information on the structure and functions involved in Army special operations forces activities. Army special operations forces represent all forces assigned to the United States Army Special Operations Command: Special Forces, Military Information Support Operations, Civil Affairs, Rangers, Army special operations aviation, the 528th Sustainment Brigade (Special Operations) (Airborne), and Special Mission Units. The principal audience for Field Manual 3-05 is Army special operations forces, joint, and land component force commanders and staff; the publication provides a broad understanding of Army special operations forces. This publication also provides guidance for Army special operations forces commanders who determine the force structure, budget, training, materiel, and operations and sustainment requirements necessary to prepare Army special operations forces to conduct their missions. This Service doctrine is consistent with joint doctrine.
