I certify that the foregoing amendments to the treaty of 27th day of July, 1853, was read and explained to the chiefs, and that they consented to, and signed the same on the 21st day of July, 1854. Now, therefore, be it known, that I, FRANKLIN PIERCE, President of the United States of America, in pursuance of the advice and consent of the Senate, as expressed in their resolution of April twelfth, eighteen hundred and fifty-four, do accept, ratify, and eonnrm the said treaty, with the amendment. In testimony whereoii I have caused the seal of the United States to be herewith ailixed, having signed the same with my hand.
