(2) The table of sections at the beginning of such chapter is amended by inserting before the item relating to section 4024 the following new item: "4021. Army War Ck>llege and United States Army Command and General Staff Collie: civilian faculty members.". (c) NAVAL WAR COIXSGE AND MARINE CORPS COMMAND AND STAFF COLLEGE.— (l)Section 7478of title 10, United States Code, is amended to read as follows:

    • § 7478. Naval War College and Marine Corps Command and Staff

College: civilian faculty members "(a) AUTHORITY OF SECRETARY. — The Secretary of the Navy may employ as many civilians as professors, instructors, and lecturers at a school of the Naval War College or at the Marine Corps Command and Staff Collie as the Secretary considers necessary. "flb) COMPENSATION OF FACULTY MEMBERS.—The compensation of persons employed under this section shall be as prescribed by the Secretary. " (c) APPLICATION TO CERTAIN FACULTY MEMBERS.— Th is section shall not apply with respect to professors, instructors, and lecturers employed at a school of the Naval War College or at the Marine Corps Command and Staff College if the duration of the principal course of instruction offered at the school or college involved is less than 10 months.". (2) The item relating to such section in the table of sections at the beginning of chapter 643 of such title is amended to read as follows: "7478. Naval War Ck>llege and Marine Corps Command and Staff College: civilian facility members.". (d) AIR UNIVERSITY. —(1) Chapter 873 of title 10, United States Code, is amended by inserting after the table of sections the follow- ing new section: "§ 9021. Air University: civilian faculty members "(a) AUTHORITY OF SECRETARY. — The Secretary of the Air Force may employ as many civilians as professors, instructors, and lectur- ers at a school of the Air University as the Secretary considers necessary. "(b) COMPENSATION OF FACULTY MEMBERS.— The compensation of persons employed under this section shall be as prescribed by the Secretary. "(c) APPLICATION TO CERTAIN FACULTY MEMBERS.— (1) Except as provided in paragraph (2), this section shall apply with respect to persons who are selected by the Secretary for employment as profes- sors, instructors, and lecturers at a school of the Air University after the end of the 90-day period beginning on the date of the enactment of this section. "(2) This section shall not apply with respect to professors, instruc- tors, and lecturers employed at a school of the Air University if the
