Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of Civil War ^^g United States of America in Congress assembled. Battlefield Commemorative SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. 31 USC 5112 This Act may be cited as the "Civil War Battlefield Commemonote. rative Coin Act of 1992". 31 USC 5112 SEC. 2. COIN SPECIFICATIONS. ^°' (a) FIVE DOLLAR GTOLD COINS. —The Secretary of the Treasury (hereaher in this Act referred to as the "Secretary") shall issue not more than 300,000 five dollar coins which shall— (1) weigh 8.359 grams, (2) have a diameter of 0.850 inches, and (3) contain 90 percent gold and 10 percent alloy. (b) ONE DOLLAR SILVER COINS. —The Secretary shall issue not more than 1,000,000 one dollar coins which shall— (1) weigh 26.73 grams, (2) have a diameter of 1.500 inches, and (3) contain 90 percent silver and 10 percent copper. (c) HALF DOLLAR CLAD COINS. —The Secretary shall issue not more than 2,000,000 half dollar coins which shall be minted to the specifications for half dollar coins contained in section 5112(b) of title 31, United States Code. (d) DESIGN. — (1) DESIGN REQUIREMENTS.—The design of the coins authorized under this Act shall be emblematic of the Civil War. On each such coin there shall be a designation of the value of the coin, an inscription of the year "1995", and inscriptions of the words "Liberty", "In God We Trust", "United States of America", and "E Pluribus Unum". (2) SELECTION OF DESIGN.— The Secretary shall select the design of each coin authorized under this Act after consultation with the Secretary of the Interior, the Commission of Fine Arts, and the Civil War Battlefield Foundation (hereafter in this Act referred to as the "Foundation"). (e) LEGAL TENDER. —The coins issued under this Act shall be legal tender as provided in section 5103 of title 31, United States Code. (0 TERMINATION OF AUTHORITY. —Coins may not be minted under this Act after December 31, 1995.
