(4) For the Defense Agencies, $3,713,000. SEC.270 2. AUTHORIZ E DB ASE C L OSURE A N D REALI G N M ENT ACTI V I - TIES F UNDED THROUGH DE P ARTMENT OF DEFENSE BASE CLOSURE ACCOUNT 200 5 . Using amounts appropriated pursuant to the authorization of appropriations in section 2703, the Secretary of Defense may carry out base closure and realignment activities, including real property ac q uisition and military construction projects, as authorized by the Defense Base Closure and Realignment Act of 1990 (part A of title XXIX of Public Law 101–510; 10 U.S.C. 2687 note) and funded through the Department of Defense Base Closure Account 2005 established by section 2906A of such Act, in the amount of $8,718,988,000. SEC. 270 3 . AUTHORIZATION OF APPROPRIATIONS FOR BASE CLOSURE AND REALIGNMENT ACTIVITIES FUNDED THROUGH DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE BASE CLOSURE ACCOUNT 2005. (a) A UTHORIZA TIO N O F A P PROPRIATION S . — Funds are hereby authorized to be appropriated for fiscal years beginning after Sep - tember 30, 2007, for base closure and realignment activities, including real property acquisition and military construction projects, as authorized by the Defense Base Closure and Realign- ment Act of 1990 (part A of title XXIX of Public Law 101–510; 10 U.S.C. 2687 note) and funded through the Department of Defense Base Closure Account 2005 established by section 2906A of such Act, in the total amount of $8,040,401,000, as follows: (1) For the Department of the Army, $4,015,746,000. (2) For the Department of the Navy, $733,695,000. (3) For the Department of the Air Force, $1,183,812,000. (4) For the Defense Agencies, $2,241,062,000. (b) GE NERA L RE D U C TION.— T he amount otherwise authorized to be appropriated by subsection (a) is reduced by $133,914,000. SEC. 270 4 . AUTHORIZED COST AND SCOPE OF W OR K VARIATIONS FOR MILITAR Y CONSTRUCTION AND MILITARY FAMILY HOUSING PRO J ECTS RELATED TO BASE CLOSURES AND REALIGNMENTS. (a) V ARIATIONS AUTHORIZED.—Section 2905A of the Defense Base Closure and Realignment Act of 1990 (part A of title XXIX of Public Law 101–510; 10 U.S.C. 2687 note) is amended by adding at the end the following new subsection: ‘ ‘(f) AUTHORIZED COST AND SCOPE OF W OR K VARIATIONS.—(1) Subject to paragraphs (2) and (3), the cost authorized for a military construction project or military family housing project to be carried out using funds in the Account may not be increased or reduced by more than 20 percent or $2,000,000, whichever is greater, of the amount specified for the project in the conference report to accompany the M ilitary Construction Authorization Act authorizing
