(2) A CTIV ITIE SO R U SES U P TO B OUN D ARIES.— T he fact that nonwilderness activities or uses can be seen or heard from within a wilderness area shall not, of itself, preclude the activi - ties or uses up to the boundar y of the wilderness area. (g) F IS H AND WILDLI F E.— N othing in this section affects the j urisdiction or responsibilities of the State with respect to fish and wildlife. (h) FIRE, INSECTS, AND D ISEASES.—As provided in section 4(d)(1) of the Wilderness Act (16 U.S.C. 1133(d)(1)), within the wilderness areas designated by this section, the Secretary that has jurisdiction over the land within the wilderness (referred to in this subsection as the ‘ ‘Secretary ’ ’) may ta k e such measures as are necessary to control fire, insects, and diseases, subject to such terms and condi- tions as the Secretary determines to be desirable and appropriate. (i) WITHDRA W AL.—Subject to valid rights in e x istence on the date of enactment of this Act, the Federal land designated as wilderness by this section is withdrawn from all forms of— (1) entry, appropriation, or disposal under the public land laws; (2) location, entry, and patent under the mining laws; and (3) disposition under all laws pertaining to mineral and geothermal leasing or mineral materials. SEC.1203 . D ES IGNAT I O NO F ST R EA M S FOR W I L D AND SCENIC RI V ER P ROTECTION IN T H EMO U NT HOOD AREA. (a) WILD AND SCENIC R IVER DESIGNATIONS, M OUNT H OOD NATIONAL FOREST.— (1) IN GENERAL.—Section 3(a) of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act (16 U.S.C. 12 7 4(a)) is amended by adding at the end the following
‘‘(171) SOUTH FOR K CLACKA M AS RIVER, OREGON.—The 4.2- mile segment of the South Fork Clackamas River from its confluence with the E ast Fork of the South Fork Clackamas to its confluence with the Clackamas River, to be administered by the Secretary of Agriculture as a wild river. ‘‘(172) EAGLE CREEK, OREGON.—The 8.3-mile segment of Eagle Creek from its headwaters to the Mount Hood National Forest boundary, to be administered by the Secretary of Agri- culture as a wild river. ‘‘(173) MIDDLE FORK HOOD RIVER.—The 3.7-mile segment of the Middle Fork Hood River from the confluence of Clear and Coe B ranches to the north section line of section 11, town- ship 1 south, range 9 east, to be administered by the Secretary of Agriculture as a scenic river. ‘‘(174) SOUTH FORK ROARING RIVER, OREGON.—The 4.6-mile segment of the South Fork Roaring River from its headwaters to its confluence with Roaring River, to be administered by the Secretary of Agriculture as a wild river. ‘‘(17 5 ) Z IG Z AG RIVER, OREGON.—The 4.3-mile segment of the Zig Zag River from its headwaters to the Mount Hood
