(d) REFUN D S DISRE G ARDED IN T H EAD M INISTRATION OF FEDERAL P ROGRAMS AND FEDERALLY ASSISTED PROGRAMS.—Any credit or refund allowed or made to any individual by reason of this section shall not be ta k en into account as income and shall not be taken into account as resources for the month of receipt and the followin g 2 months, for purposes of determining the eligibility of such indi- vidual or any other individual for benefits or assistance, or the amount or e x tent of benefits or assistance, under any Federal program or under any State or local program financed in whole or in part with Federal funds. PR E MIU M ASSISTANCE FOR COBRA BENEFITS. (a) PREMIUM ASSISTANCE FOR C O BRA CONTINUATION CO V ERAGE FOR INDIVIDUALS AND THEIR FAMILIES.— (1) PROVISION OF PREMIUM ASSISTANCE.— (A) REDUCTION OF PREMIUMS PAYA B LE.—In the case of any premium for a period of coverage beginning on or after the date of the enactment of this Act for COBRA continuation coverage with respect to any assistance eligible individual, such individual shall be treated for pur- poses of any COBRA continuation provision as having paid the amount of such premium if such individual pays (or a person other than such individual ’ s employer pays on behalf of such individual) 3 5 percent of the amount of such premium (as determined without regard to this sub- section). (B) PLAN ENROLLMENT OPTION.— (i) IN GENERAL.— N otwithstanding the COBRA continuation provisions, an assistance eligible indi- vidual may, not later than 9 0 days after the date of notice of the plan enrollment option described in this subparagraph, elect to enroll in coverage under a plan offered by the employer involved, or the employee organi z ation involved (including, for this pur- pose, a j oint board of trustees of a multiemployer trust Deadlin e .26USC 6 43 2 n ot e.
