S_TmpP_mS by the commissioner of patents for seven years from the first day of executrix; October, eighteen hundred and fifty-nine, and again surrendered and reissued in two several divisions or patents numbered, respectively, nineteen hundred and forty-six and nineteen hundred and forty-seven, for new and useful improvements in barrel machinery, be, and the same is and are hereby, renewed, revived, and extended for the term of seven years from and after the passage of this act; and the commissioner of patents is hereby directed, upon the presentation of said patents or re-issues, numbered, respectively, nineteen hundred end forty-six and nineteen hundred and forty-seven, or certified copies thereof; by making a certificate upon such patent or reissue, or certified copy thereof, of such extension (the lawful fees being first paid therefor), in the name of Sarah S. Trapp, exocutrix of said William Trapp; and the commissioner of patents is hereby directed to cause the same to be entered of record in the patentoflice; and the said patents so renewed, revived, and extended shell have the same effect in law as if originally granted for terms extending to the to ne open to end of the term to which they are extended by this act: Provided, how- £§“1‘“‘i““`·V· ever, That such renewal or extended patents, respectively, shall be open ' to legal inquiry and decision in the same manner as if issued under the general law regulating the granting of patents: And provided y9u·t/ter, no damage for that no person, iirm, or corporation shall be liable for any damage or lm p“°'¤ °‘°‘ royalty for lmving made, vended, or used said improvements in said patents specified prior to the passage of this act; and any such person, firm or corporation having made or purchased and used said improvement since the expiration of the said patents shell he entitled to use the same without liability during the term of said extension.
