Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Repv·esem5at‘iz·es of the M°¤¥°¤· M United States of America in C0*n»g*res.s· assembled, That the Secretary hm bumm" of the Treasur be, and he is hereby, authouzed and directed to pur- Sfw- chase, acquire by condemnation, or Ohl1GTW1S8 Erocure a smtable site, and cause to be erected thereon, at the city of onroe, 111 the State of Louisiana, a. suitable, substantial, and commodious public building for the use of the United States courts, post-office, internal revenue, mm- land, and other Government offices: Provided, That no money appro· '1‘1¤¤. M priated for said building shall be expended until a valid title to the sxte selected shall be vested in theUnited States, which site shall leave the building unexposed to danger from fire in adjacent buildings by an open space of at least fifty feet, nor until the State of Louisiana shall have ceded `urisdiction over the same for all pur oses during the time the United étates shall be or remain the owner thereof, except for the enforcement of the criminal laws of said State, and the service of civil P|¤¤¤· ¤¤¤¤¤•¤¤» process therein, The plans and estimates for said building shall first be RS-.sc¤.3m.p-M- repnrcd, examined, and approved as required by section thirty-seven hundred and thirty-fouro the Revised tatutes of the United States, and the cost shall not exceed seventy-five thousand dollars; nor shall any site be urchased until estimates for the erection of a building which will fllrnislx sufficient accommodations for the transaction of the public business, and which shall not exceed in cost the balance of the sum herein limited after the site shall have been purchased and paid for, shall have been approved by the Secretary of the Treasury. · Hmfr ¤¢ ¢¤¤¤- And no purchase of site nor plan of said building shall be approved by the Secretary of the Treasury involving an expenditure exceeding the A1u>¤>x¤·i¤·¤¤¤ said sum of seventy-five thousand dollars, which sum is hereby appropriated for the same, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated.
