Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the New D]¤k¤*·¤, CSM United States of America m Congress assembled, That the assent of €;¤°?i¤»fy m-mg; agi Congress is hereby given to the orth Dakota and Pacific Railroad hiijgjing 0{{j°wd°"1§§ Company, a corporation existing under the laws of the State of M1n- kent mL' nesota, and to its successors an assigns, to construct and mamtam a A" °*" bridge and aéiproachesthereto, across the lated River of the North, between the tate of Minnesota and the Territory of Dakota, at such oint on said river on the boundary-line between Norman or_ Polk County, in the State of Minnesota, and Traill or Cass County, in the Territory of Dakota, as may accommodate the l1nes_of railroad which said cor ration may buil to said point. P Sec. 2. That any bridge built under this act shall be constructed as a prvot dragv-bridge, withbai draw pver (fha channel at anl ac- ~ cessi eau te es naviga ep0in,an wi s givi acear water-way, measured at the lowest stage of water khbswn atlthe locality, of not loss than eighty feet in the clear on each side of the central or pivot pier of the raw; and the bottom chord of the brid e shall not be of less elevation than one foot above the plane of the highest flood known at the locality, and provision shall also be made in the location and construction of abutments and atpproaches to allow the free passage of flood water- and_the piers o said bridge shall be paralle to and the bridge itself at right angles to the current HMM- dr". of said river: Provided, That the said draw shall be opened promptly, °°°'°"° upon reasonable signal, for the passage of boats and other watercraft, except when trains are passing oyer said draw; but m no case shall unnecessary delay occur in opening the said draw during or after the passa e of trams; and said corporation shall mamtain at its Habra vw- own expense, gem sunset to sum·ise, such light or other signals on said bridge as the Iritght-House Board shall prescribe; and said corporation shall provide, at its own expense, such sheer-booms, guide piers, or other device as may be necessary to facilitate the safe assage ot boats or other water-craft throng the spans of said bridge.
