RECEIVING PROPERTY STOLEN FROM THE DISTRICT or S,,§§gg€ig,§,’;§ §,§gP§{}gf COLUMBIA.·—WhO€V61` shall receive, conceal, or aid in concealing, or rricwi Columbia ` have in possession, with intent to convert to his own use, any money, property, or writing, the property of the District of Columbia, knowing the same to have been embezzled, stolen, or purloined from the District of Columbia by any other person, shall be punished by a fine not exceeding five thousand dollars, or imprisonment not exceeding five years, or both. Sec. 833. EMBEZZLEMENT.··WhO€V€T, bein · charged with the col- ,,£g,*bm‘°¤*€¤° de lection, receipt; safe-keeping, transfer, or disbursement of public ` money or other property or effects belonging or payable to the District of Columbia or in the custody of the same, fraudulently converts to his own use, or to the use of any other person, body corporate, or association whatever, or uses, by way of investment, in any kind of security, stock, loan, property, or in any other manner or form loans, with or without interest, to any company, corporation, association or individual, excepting by depositing in bank to said party’s own credit, in the usual course of business, any public money, funds, property, bonds, securities, assets, or effects received, controlled, or held by him for safe-keeping or for any other purpose, shall forfeit all right, by way of commissions or compensation, to any part of the said money or other property and shall be deemed uilty of embezzlement of the whole of the money or other property gms converted, used, invested, loaned, deposited, or aid out, and shall be im risoned for not more than twenty years anflined in a sum not exceeging double the value of the money or property embezzled. Sec. 834. EMBEZZLEMENT BY AGENT, ATTORNEY, CLERK, oa SERV- E¤;¤¢%zl¢¤¤§;¤_]}y ANT.--—If any agent, attorney, clerk, or servant of a private person or ili°§'$r§r°iJfm`°`(‘ U ` copartnership, or any officer, attorney, agent, clerk, or servant of any association or incorporated company, shall wrongfully convert to his own use, or fraudulently take, make way with, or secrete, with intent to convert to his own use, anything of value which shall come into his possession or under his care by virtue of his employment or office, whether the thing so converted be the property of his master or employer or that of any other person, copartnership, association, or corporation, he shall be deemed guilty of embezzlement, and shall be punished by a fine not exceeding one thousand dollars, or by imprisonment for not more than ten years, or both. Sec. 835.
