States of Amt rica in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the {,‘§,§,§,§‘}"‘“ L““*’· Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, thetname of John Calvin Lane, late scout and guide for the Eighth Regiment Missouri Volunteer Cavalry, and pay im a pension at the rate of twelve dollars per month. Approved, January 31, 1901. CHAP. 196.-An Act To correct the militaryrecord of William Lapoint. -4-Februa.ry4, 1901. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Riy1resentat2}ves of the [halted States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of War {;?g§g*%0r_ be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to correct the military mma. ' record of William Lapoint., late private in Company C, Third Vermont Volunteers, by removing the charge of "desertion" and substituting "absented himself without proper authority in January, eighteen hundred and sixty-three. and so remained to December twenty-fifth, eighteen hundred and sixty-three, when he enlisted as a private in Company H, Ninth Regiment Vermont Infantry Volunteers, and served faithfully in said company, and in Company C, same regiment, to which he was duly transferred June thirteenth, eighteen hundred and sixty- five, until December first, eighteen hundred and sixty-five, when he was honorably discharged with his company." _ Approved, February 4, 1901. Titcomb, late of the Sixth Battery Massachusetts olunteer Light Artillery, and to substitute therefor " found dead in Boston Harbor May twenty-first, eighteen hundred , and sixty-four.” Approved, February 4, 1901. CHAP. 198.-An Act For the relief of \Villiam Burke. February 4, 1901. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Rqyresentattces of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of War Bgglljgiable be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to remove the charge of discharge. desertion now standing against the name of William Burke, late of Company K, Ninety-sixth Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, and issue to him an honorable discharge as of June fifteenth, eighteen hundred and sixty-three: Pro/vided, That no pay, bounty, or other §g>l*;¤<>· em emoluments shall become due or payable by virtue of the passage of P y' ` this Act.
