And the superintendent upon w om such duties devolve shall give bond as other Indian agents. For payment of necessary interpreters, to be distributed in the dis- I¤*°*P*€‘€”· cretion of the Secretary of the Interior, eight thousand dollars; but no person employed by the United States an paid for any other service shall be paid for interpreting. For pay of eight Indian inspectors, one of whom shall be an engineer I““P€°°°’“· competent in the location, construction, and maintenance of irrigation works, at two thousand five hundred dollars per annum each, twenty thousand dollars.
