And the employees of the experiment stations in Alaska, hlawaii, and Porto Rico may hereafter, in the discretion of the Secretary of Agriculture, without additional expense to the Government, be granted leave of absence not to exceed iitteen days rn any one year, which leave may, in exceptional and meritorious cases where such an employee is ill, be extended in the discretion of the Secretary of Agriculture not to exceed fifteen days additional in any one year. _ Nutrition i¤v¤•¤e¤- Nurmrron INv1·:s·rr0A·r1or~zs: To enable the Secretary of Agriculture M"` to investigate and report upon the nutritive value of the various articles and commodities used for human food, with special suggestions of full, wholesome, and edible rations less wasteful and more economical than those in common use, including special investigations on the nutritive value and economy of the diet in public institutions; and the Secretary of A riculture is hereby authorized to employ such assistants, clerks, and other persons as e may deem necessary in the city of Washington and elsewhere; and the agricultural experiment stations are authorized and directed to cooperate with the Secretary of Agriculture in ca ing out said investigations in such manner and to such extent as mayrbe warranted by a due regard to the varyinlg conditions and needs of the respective States and Territories, an as may be mutually geed upon; and the Secretary of Agriculture is hereby authorized to require said stations to report to him the results of any such investi tions which they may carry out, whether in cooperation
