Mme-. _ MILITIA OF THE DISTB.1U1‘ OF COLUMBIA. —Exv<=¤¤e¤· ‘ For the following, to be expended under the authority and direction of the commanding general, who is hereby authorized and empowered to make necessary contracts and leases, namely: _ °*¤¤P» °*°· For expenses of campls including hire of horses for officers reqmred to be mounted, and suc hire not to be deducted from their mounted pay, and the accountin officers are directed to settle the accounts for cam instruction, auf practice marches for the fiscal year nineteen hundived and eight in accordance herewith, instruction, practice marches and practice cruises, drills and parades, rent, fuel, lig t, heat, care, and repair of armories, practice ships, boats, machinery, and dock, dredgin alongside of dock, and for telephone serv1ce, forty- five thousand ghree hundred dollars. ‘ For lockers, furniture, and gymnastic apparatus for armories, seven hundred and fifty dollars. For printing, stationery, and postage, two thousand one hundred and fifty dollars. For cleaning and repairing imiforms, arms, and equipments, and contingent expenses, two thousand dollars. For custodian in charge of United States property and storerooms, one thousand dollars. For clerk, office of the adjutant-general, seven hundred and twenty dollars. For expenses of rille practice and matches, one thousand dollars. ny. For pay of troops, other than Government employees, to be disbursed under the authority and direction of the commandin general, rmm,. e` hteen thousand five hundred dollars: Provided, That ah moneys ,,,‘;,°,‘§},‘§}‘,y°f" '°' I""' cdllected on account of deductions made from the pay of any oilieer or — enlisted man of the National Guard of the District o Columbia on account of Government property lost or destroyed by such individual shall be repaid into the Lnited States Treasury to the credit of the oliicer of the militia of the District of Columbia who is accountable to the United States Government for such property lost or destroyed: Use owner, em. Pnwédedfurtber, That all moneys collected on account of deductions made from the pay of any officer or enlisted man of the National Guard of the District of Columbia for or on account of any violation of the regulations governing said National Guard shall be held by the comman ing general of the militia of the District of Columbia, who is authorized to expend such moneys so collected for necessary clerical and general exlpgnses of the service, heretofore or hereafter incurred, including law ks and books of reference, or for the pay of troops, other than Government em loyees; and for all moneys so collected and expended the commanding general shall make an accounting in like manner as for the appropriation disbursed for pay of troops: m;I¤¤ ¤1 ¤m>¤·r>**¤· Ihmidedfurther, That ang of the moneys appropriated for the fiscal — ' years nineteen hundred an eight and mneteen hundred and nine for the District of Columbia Militia may be used to supplement specific appropriations or allotments which may be found insufzlicient for the purposes for which made, and authority is hereby iven to supplement the regular ration b purchase of such additional articles of sub-

Incidenruls For general incidental expenses of the service, five hundred dollars. mgggruw i¤ ¤v¤¤ Hereafter the purchase of supplies and the procurement of services ' for all branches of the District of Columbia Militia service may be made in open market, in the manner common among business men, when the aggregate of the amount required does not exceed one hundred dollars.
