Taft, President of the United States ' ’P' of America, by virtue of the power 111 me vested by the Act of Congress a proved June fourth, eighteen hundred and ninety-seven, entitled ".Kn Act Making appropriations for sundry civil expenses of the Government for the fiscal year ending June thirtieth, eighteen hundred and ninety-eight, and for other §urposes," do proclaim that the boundaries of the Angleles National orest are hereby changed and that they are now as s own on the diagram forming a part hereof. $§{¤¢3¤_;¤¢¤r;|;3_¤¤¤¤· This proclamation shall not prevent the settlement and entry of ` ’p° any lands heretofore opened to settlement and entry under the Act of Co ess approved une eleventh, nineteen hundred and six, entitled Sigh Act o provide for the entry of Agricultural lands within forest reserves," and Acts amendatory thereof. gads ¤¤¤•¤ W The lands hereby eliminated from the Angelica National Forest P which are not embraced in withdrawals for a inistrative sites for use in the management of the Forest, or in any other reservation or appropriation, s all be restored to the public domain and be‘come sugject to settlement under the general revisions of the homestead laws on such date and after such notice by ublication as the Secretary of the Interior may prescribe, but shall not become subject to entry, tiling, selection, or other form of appropriation until the expiration of thirtly days from the date so fixed, except that on the same date as the ands eliminated become subject to settlement, the State of California may, if the lands eliminated are subject to such selection, ,,,{’,} °“°°l select as indemnity in the satisfaction of its common school grant, not to exceed two sections of land in each entire township restored, or one section in each fractional portion of a township where the restored area thereof exceeds five thousand (5,000) acres,. and no person will be permitted to acquire or exercise any right whatever under any sett ement or occupancy begun prior to such date, and all such settlement or occupation is ere y forbidden. _
