Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representat·ives 0 the United ,,,*’,,,“"m}*° ‘ ******1*** States of America an Congress assembled, That the Public Ilealtlr and Public Kell!-h nd Manne-Hospital Service of the United States shall hereafter be known and dcsrgaated as the Public Health Service, and all laws V°‘·”2·P·"1’· to the bhc Health and Marine-Hospgal Service of tllie Uni States shall hereafter apply to the Public ealth Service, and all regulatrons now rn force, made rn accordance with law for the Public Health and Marine-Hospital Service of the United States shall ap 1 to and renramm force as regulations of and for the Public Health Service changed or rescmded. The Public Health Service may Invenisnuons no study and rnyestrgate the diseases of man and conditions influencing °’°"'°°‘ the propagation and spread thereof, including sanitation and ewage and the pollution either directly or indirectly of the navigable streams and lakes of the United States, and it may from time to time issue information in the form of publications for the use of the public. Sec. 2. That begrnmng with the first day of October next after the E""l°" passage of this Act the salaries of the commissioned medical ofzlicers of the Public Health Service shall be at the following rates per annum: Surgeon General, six thousand dollars; Assistant Surmr General, four thousand dollars; senior surlgleon, of which there s be ten in number, on active duty, three ousand five hundred dollars; surgeon, three thousand dollars; passed assistant surgeon, two thousand mngsvm, ,,,"_ our hundred dollars; assistant surgeon, two thousand dollars; and was the said omcers, excepting the Surgeon General, shall receive an additional compensation of ten per centum of the annual salary as above set forth for each five years’ service, but not to exceed in all forty ,,,,,,,m_ per centum: Promkied, That the total salary, including the longevity M¤¤i¤··¤¤ mn mcrcase, shall not exceed the following rates: Assistant Surgeon General five thousand dollars; senior surgeon, four thousand five hundred dollars; s1u·geon, four thousand dollars: Provided further, H°‘° “““‘°"*“°"· That there may be employed in the Public Health Service such help as may be provided for from time to time by Congress. ' Ilill, in thelgtate of Montana, at a price to be agreed upon by the Secretary of the Interior and the board of county commissioners of said county, and said county, by its duly authorized officials, shall have the right to enter upon the said abandoned Fort Assmmbome Military Reservation at any time after such sale has been consummated and remove said buildings and such fixtures.
