Principal clerical, Grade 6 in this service, which may be referred to as the principal clerical grade, shall include all classes of positions, the duties of which are to perform, under general supervision, exceptionally diffi- cult and responsible office work requiring extended training and experience, the exercise of independent judgment or knowledge of a specialized and complex subject matter, or both, and a thorough knowledge of office procedure and practice, or to serve as the recog- nized authority or adviser in matters requiring long experience and an exceptional knowledge of the most difficult and complicated pro- cedure or of a very difficult and complex subject, or to supervise a large or important office organization engaged in difficult or varied work.
