Any person violating the provisions of this Act Penalty for violation. shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in any sum not exceeding $1,000. Nelson, Galva, Illinois) United States Treasury note, series B-1927, issJ~ed May 15, 1923, matured March 15, 1927, serially numbered 22930, in the denomination of $500, with interest at the rate of 4%, per cp.ntum per annum from September 15, 1925, to March 15, 1927, without presentation of the said note or the coupons representing interest thereon from September 15, 1925, to March 15, 1927, the note with the said coupons attached having been lost or destroyed: Pro'Vided, That the said note shall not have ~=on. been previously presented for payment, and that no payment shall be made hereunder for any coupons which have been previously presented and paid: Pro'l.,ided further, That the said J. W. Nelson IndemnJtybond shall first file in the Treasury Department a bond in the penal sum of double the amount of the note and the interest payable thereon, in such form and with such surety or sureties as may be acceptable to the Secretary of the Treasury, to indemnify and save harmless the United States from any loss on account of the lost or destroyed Treasury note herein described or the coupons belonging thereto.
