Di se ase s o f a ni mal s : F or all necessary expenses for sc ientific inves- tigations of diseases of animals, including the construction of neces- sary buildings at Beltsville, Maryland, the . maintenance and improve- ment of the bureau experiment station at Bethesda, Maryland . and the nec essary alter ations of bu ilding s there on, an d the necess ary expenses for investigations of tuberculin, serums, antitoxins, and analogo us pro ducts, $375,000 : Provided, That of said sum $86,600 may be used f or res earche s conc erning the ca use, m odes o f spre ad, and methods of treatment and prevention of the disease of contagious abortion of animals . Eradicating hog cholera : For investigating the disease of hog cholera a nd relate d swine d iseases, and for t heir cont rol or er adica- tion by such means as may be ne cessar y, incl uding demons tratio ns, the formation of organizations, and other methods, either inde- pendently or in cooperation with farmers' associations, State or county authorities, $420,000 : Provided, That of said sum $232 .840 shall b e avai lable for ex pendit ure in carryi ng out the p rovisi ons of the Act approved March 4, 1913 (U. S. C., title 21, sees. 151-158), regulating the preparation, sale, barter, exchange, or shipment of any vir us, se rum, t oxin, or ana logous produc t manu factur ed in the United States and the importation of such products intended for use in the treatment of domestic animals : Provide d furt her, That of said sum $27,700 shall be available for researches concerning the cause, modes of spread, and methods of treatment and prevention of these disease s . Eradicating dourine : For all necessary expenses for the investi- gation, treatment, and eradication of dourine, $25,000 . Packers and Stockyards Act : For necessary expenses in carrying out the provisions of the Packers and Stockyards Act, approved August 15, 1921 (U. S. C., title 7, sets. 181-229), $350,200 : Provided, That the Secretary of Agriculture may require reasonable bonds from every market agency and dealer, under such rules and regulations as he may prescribe to secure the performance of their obligations, and whenever, after due notice and hearing, the Secre- tary finds any registrant is insolvent or has violated any provision of said Act he may issue an order suspending such registrant for a reasonable specified period . Such order of suspension shall take effect within not less than five days, unless suspended or modified or set aside by the Secretary of Agriculture or a court of competent jurisdiction : Pr ovided furth er, That the Secretary of Agriculture may, whenever necessary, authorize the charging and collection from owners of a r easona ble fe e for the in spectio n of b rands appear ing upon livestock subject to the provisions of the said Act for the purpose of determining the ownership of such livestock : Provided further, That such fee shall not be imposed except upon written request made to the Secretary of Agriculture by the Board of Live- stock Commissioners, or duly organized livestock association of the 30 51 •- 33- 91 1441 Livestock experi- meut,, etc ., big Spring,, Tex . cund>t ;on .
