for the maintenance, repair, and operation of horse-drawn and motor- propelled freight and passenger-carrying vehicles, to be used only for official purposes at naval ammunition depots, naval pro ving grounds, naval ordnance plants, and naval torpedo stations ; for the pay of chemists, clerical, drafting, inspection, and messenger service in navy yards, naval stations, naval ordnance plants, and naval ammunition depots, and for care and operation of schools at ordnance stations at Indianhead, Maryland, Dahlgren, Virginia, and South Charleston, West Virginia, $10,849,750 : Provided, That the sum to be paid out of this app ropriati on for e mployees assigne d to Gro up IV (b) and thos e perfor ming sim ilar ser vices ca rried un der nati ve and alien schedules in the Schedule of Wages for Civil Employees in the Field Servic e of the Navy De partment shall n ot exceed $1,262, 500 . PAY, SUBSISTENCE, AND TRANSPORTATION OF NAVAL PERSONNEL Pay of na val personnel : For pay and allowances prescribed by Nay , etc ., of the law of officers on sea duty and other duty and officers on waiting officers . orders (not to exceed nine hundred and eight officers of the Medical Corps, one hundred and eighty-six officers of the Dental Corps, five hundred and fifty-six officers of the Supply Corps, eighty-three officers of the Chaplain Corps, two hundred and thirty-three offi cers of the Construction Corps, one hundred and nine officers of the Civil Engineer Corps, and one thousand four hundred and sixty-one war- rant and commissioned warrant officers : Provided.
