FEBRUARY 17, 1933 . in excess of such an amount as is necessary for the Geological Sur- vey to perform its share of general water-resource investigations, such share of the Geological Survey in no case exceeding 50 per centum of the cost of the investigation : Provided further, That $400,000 of this amount shall be available only for such cooperation with States or municipalities ; Classification of lands : For the examination and classification of lands with respect to mineral character, water resources, and agri- cultural utility as required by the public land laws and for related administrative operations ; for the preparation and publication of land classification maps and reports ; for engineering supervision of power permits and grants under the jurisdiction of the Secretary of the Interior ; and for performance of work of the Federal Power Commission, $100 ;000, of which amount not to exceed $75,000 may be ex pended for p ersona l ser vices in the Distr ict of Colu mbia

Printing and binding, and so forth : For printing and binding, $110,000 ; for preparation of illustrations, $15,000 ; and for engraving and printing geologic and t opographic map s, $85,000 ; In al l, $210, 000 ; M in er al l ea si ng : For the enforcement of the provisions of the Acts of October 20, 1914 (U . S . C ., title 48, sec . 435), October 2, 1917 (U. S. C., title 30, sec. 141), February 25, 1920 (U. S. C., title 30, sec. 181), and March 4, 1921 (U. S. C., title 48, sec. 444), and other Acts relating to the mining and recovery of minerals on Indian and public lands and naval petroleum reserves ; and for every other expense incident thereto, including supplies, equipment, expenses of travel and subsistence, the construction, maintenance, and repair of necessary camp buildings and appurtenances thereto $225,000, of which amount not to exceed $40,00 may be expended for personal services in the District of Columbia ; During the fiscal year 1934 the head of any department or inde- pendent establishment of the Government having funds available for sci entif ic a nd te chni cal inves tiga tions and requ irin g co opera tive work by the Geological Survey on scientific and technical investiga- tions within the scope of the functions of that bureau and which it is unable to perform within the limits of its appropriations may, with the approval of the Secretary of the Interior, transfer to the Geological Survey such sums as may be necessary to carry on such investigations. The Secretary of the Treasury shall transfer on the books of the Treasury Department any sums which may be authorized hereunder, and such amounts shall be placed to the credit of the Geological Survey for the performance of work for the department or establishment from which the transfer is made Provided, That any sums transferred by any department or inde- pendent establishment of the Government to the Geological Survey for coope rati ve w ork i n co nnect ion with this app ropri atio n may be expended in the same manner as sums appropriated herein may be exp end ed : Pro vided fur ther, That any funds herein appropriated for the Geological Survey for cooperative work may be utilized prior to July 1, 1933, as required to enable the Geological Survey to continue its cooperative work pending reimbursement from coop- erative agencies, the amount so utilized to be repaid to the appropria- tion from which advanced ; During the fiscal year 1934, upon the request of the Secretary of the Interior, the Secretary of War or the Secretary of the Navy is authorized to furnish aerial photographs required for mapping projects, in so far as the furnishing of such photographs will be economical to the Federal Government and does not conflict with milit ary or naval opera tions or th e othe r part s of t he re gular train- 847 Amount for coo pers' li on .
