We, the unde1'3igned :l{l::upotentiaries of His Britannic Majesty and of His Majest:r the r! g of Iraq respectively, having been duly authorised, met together this 30th day of April, 1923, correspondinir to the 14th Ramazan, 1341, in order to sign the following protocol to the Treaty of All:ianc;;; concluded between their Majesties afore- said on the 10th October, 1922, corresponding to 19th Sa'far, 1341, Hijrah, subject to r.r.,tification. PROTOCOL. It is understood between the High Contracting Parties that, not- withstanding the provisions of article 18, the present treaty shall terminate upon Iraq becoming a member of the uague of Nations and in any case not later than four years from the ratifi(;ation of peace with Turkey. Nothing in this protocol shall prevent a fresh agreement from being concluded with a view to regulate the sub- sequent relations between the High Contracting Parties; and nego- tiations for that object shall be entered into between them before the expiration of the above period. In witness of which the respective plenipotentiaries have affixed their signatures thereto. Done at Bagdad in duplicate this 30th day of April, 1923, of the Christian era, corresponding with the 14th day of Ramazan, 1341, Hijrah. P. z.
