[CHAPTER 608 .1 JO INT RESOLUTION Extending for two years the time within which American claimants may make application for payment, under the Settlement of War Claims Act of 1928, of awards of the Mixed Claims Commission and the Tripartite Claims Commis- sion, and extending until March 10, 1936, the time within which Hungarian claimants may make application for payment, under the Settlement of War Claims Act of 1928, of awards of the War Claims Arbiter . Resolved by the Senate and H ouse of Representatives of the United States o f America in Congr ess assembled, That subse ction (g) of section 2 and subsection (f) of section 5 of the Settlement of War Claims Act of 1928, as amended by Public Resolution Numb ered 11, S event y-th ird C ongre ss, appro ved J une 12, 1 933, are further amended, respectively, by striking out the words " six years " wher ever such words app ear t herei n an d ins ertin g in lieu ther eof the words " eight years " . SEc . 2 . The first sentence of subsection (h) of section 6 of the Settlement of War Claims Act of 1928 is amended to read as follows " No payment shall be made under this section unless application theref or is made b y Marc h 10, 1936, in acco rdance with such r egula- tions as the Secre tary o f the Treasu ry may prescr ibe . Whereas the Federal Government, through t he War Department, de sires to coope rate with the repre senta tive s of the C anadi an, British, and French Governments, and the State of New York, in the In ternat ional Celebr ation to com memorat e the fourth cente - nary of Jacques Cartier, the ratification of the Rush-Bagot Treaty in 1818, and the completion of the restoration of Old Fort Niagara, Niagara County, New York, as a historic and patriotic shrine symbolizing the history of the common interest of these nations in the evolution of the early American struggle and strife to a las ting peac e of vast internat ional sig nificance : There fore b e it Resolved by the Senate and Hos e of Representatives of the United States of Amer ica in Congre ss asse mbled, That there is Ap propriation au- hereby authorized to be appropriated the sum of $6,000, or so much t onisea for parrieipa thereof as may be necessary, to pay the expenses of the participation of certain units of the Army of the United States in the events and ceremonies incident to the International Celebration at Fort Niagara, New York, under such regulations as the Secretary of War may prescribe.
