JUNE 16,1932- PUBL IC BUIL DINGS AND PUBLI C PARKS OF THE NATIONAL CAPITAL For personal services in the District of Columbia and elsewhere, and the pay and allowances in accordance with the provisions of the Act of May 27, 1924, as amended, of the police force engaged in patrolling the Mount Vernon Memorial Highway in the State of Virginia, and other Federal lands, as authorized by the Act approved May 29, 1930 (46 Stat . 48 3), $2,2 00,0 00, incl uding not to ex ceed $25,000 for intermittent and seasonal employees at per diem rates of compens ation to be fixed by the direc tor. For general expenses in connection with the maintenance, care, improvement, protection, operation, repair, cleaning, heating, and lighting of the Washington Monument and grounds ; the Lincoln Memorial and the reflecting pool ; the house where Abraham Lincoln died ; the Arlington Memorial Bridge ; the Mount Vernon Memorial Highway and other Federal lands authorized by the Act of May 29 . 1930 (46 Stat . 482) ; grounds surrounding executive departments ; and public buildings in the District of Columbia under the juris- diction of the Office of Public Buildings and Public Parks of the National Capital, including per diem employees at rates of pay approved by the Director, not exceeding current rates for similar employment in the District of Columbia ; rent of buildings in the Distric t of C olumbi a, and salar ies fo r maint enance and o perati on of the buildings when such maintenance and operation is not furnished by the owner under terms of the lease, and the uniforms and equip- ment for the police force engaged in patrolling the Mount Vernon Memorial Highway in the State of Virginia, including the purchase, issue, operation, maintenance, repair, exchange and storage of revolvers, bicycles, motor-propelled passenger-carrying vehicles, and ammunition : Pr ovid ed, That any funds for the fiscal year 1934 appropr iated for re nts an d main tenanc e of bu ilding s in t he Dis trict o f Col umbia for any of th e exe cuti ve de partm ents and indep ende nt establishments map be transferred, with the approval of the Public Buildings Commission, to the Director of Public Buildings and Public Parks of the National Capital ; city directories ; contingent expenses ; traveling expenses and car fare not exceeding $300 ; com- munication service ; professional, scientific, technical, and law books ; periodicals and reference book ; blank books and forms ; photo- graphs ; maps ; leather and rubber articles and gas masks for the protection of public property and employees ; not exceeding $13,000 for unif orms for emp loy ees ; the m aint enanc e, re pair, exc hange , storage, and operation of not to exceed one motor-propelled pas- senger-carrying vehicle ; the demolition of buildings ; incidental grading of th e Mall to ut ilize availa ble fil l ; the purc hase, mai n- tenance, and repair of equipment and fixtures ; $1,1 20,0 00 . For all printing and binding for the Office of Public Buildings and Public Parks of the National Capital, $2,500 .
