FED ERAL POW ER C OMM ISSI ON Salaries and expenses : For an additiona l amount for salari es and expenses of the Federal Power Commission, including the same objects specified under this head in the Independent Offices Appro- priat ion Act, 1936, an d, in addition th ereto, rent in th e District of Columbia and elsewhere ; purchase and exchange, not exceeding $9,10 0, maintenance, r epair, and operat ion of motor-prop elled pas- senge r-carrying vehicl es, including not more than one su ch vehicle for general administrative use in the District of Columbia ; supplies and office equipment ; services ; scientific instruments ; expenses incurred in packing, crating, drayage, and transportation of house- hold effects and other property, not to exceed in any case five thousand pounds, of officers and employees when transferred from one official station to another for permanent duty, when specifically authorized by the Commission ; not to exceed $1,000 for purchase and exchange of law books, other books of reference, newspapers, periodicals and newspaper clippings, fiscal year 1936, $550,000, of which amount not to exceed $200,000 may be expended for personal services in the District of Columbia, exclusive of not to exceed $12,000 which may be expended for consultants and special counsel and $75,000 shall remain available until June 30, 1937, for rental of quarters in the District of Columbia .
