PROCU REMEN T DI VISIO N-PUB LIC BUILD INGS BRAN CH Sites and construction, public buildings, Act of May 25, 1926, as amended : For continuation or completion of construction in connec- tion with any or all projects authorized under the provisions of sections 3 and 5 of the Public Buildings Act, approved May 25, 1926, a nd the Acts ame ndatory thereof approv ed Febr uary 24, 1928, and March 31, 1930 (U . S. C ., title 40, sets . 341-349), within the respective limits of cost fixed for such projects, $3,350,000 . Public buildings outside the District of Columbia : For emergency construction of public-building projects outside of the District of Colum bia (in cluding the acq uisition , where necessa ry, by purchase , condemnation, exchange, or otherwise of sites and additional land for such buildings ; the demolition of old buildings where necessary and construction, remodeling, or extension of buildings ; rental of tem- porary quarters during construction, including moving expenses ; purchase of necessary equipment for buildings and such additional admin istrati ve expen ses and salarie s as ma y be req uired s olely fo r the purpose of carrying out the provisions of this paragraph, includ- ing reimbursement to the appropriation "Emergency Construction of Public Buildings, Act August 12, 1935", for expenditures made for advance planning of public buildings), $60,000,000 ; such projects, including the sites therefor, to be selected by the Secretary of the Treasury and the Postmaster General, acting jointly, from the public- building projects specified in Statement Numbered 1 contained in House Report Numbered 1879, Seventy-third Congress, second ses- sion, as revised February 29, 1936, and statement numbered 2 attached thereto, and the projects so selected shall be carried out within the respective estimates of proposed li mits of cost specified in such state- ment numbered 1 and those hereafter fixed by the Secretary of the Treasury and the Postmaster General for projects selected from state- men t number ed 2 an d otherw ise, ex cept tha t the u nobliga ted bala nce of the $2,500,000 fund established by the Emergency Appropriation Act, fiscal year 1935, approved June 19, 1934 (48 Stat . 1061), is hereby increased in an amount not to exceed $500,000 from the funds heretofore appropriated for emergency construction of public build- ings, and such fund shall be available for the augmentation of limits of cost of projects heretofore or hereafter selected under the provi- sions of the Emergency Appropriation Act, fiscal year 1935, approved June 19, 1934 (48 Stat . 1061) and under the provisions of the Second Deficiency Appropriation Act, fiscal year 1935, approved August 12, 1935 (49 Stat . 571), in an amount not exceeding 15 per centum for any project ; and shall be available also for the augmenta- tion of limits of cost of projects selected under the provisions of this Act in an amount not exceeding 10 per centum for any project : Provided, That with a view to relieving country-wide unemploy- ment the Secretary of the Treasury and the Postmaster General, in the selection of towns or cities in which buildings are to be con- structed, shall endeavor to distribute the projects equitably through- out the country so far as may be consistent with the needs of the public service ; and the Secretary of the Treasury and the Postmaster General may also select for prosecution under this appropriation
