G enetics and bi ophysic s : For biophysical investigations in con- nection with the various lines of work herein authorized, $31,675 . My cology and dis ease su rvey : For my cological collection s and the maintena nce of a p lant-diseas e survey, $45,818 . National Aboretum 1 : For the maintenance and development of the National Arboretum established under the provisions of the Act entitled "An Act authorizing the Secretary of Agriculture to estab- lish a National Arboretum, and for other purposes", approved March 4, 1927 (U . S . C ., title 20, sees . 191-194), including not exceeding $80,000 for acquisition of additional land, notwithstanding the limi- tations of said Act of March 4, 1927, erection of buildings, sala- ries in the city of Washington and elsewhere, traveling expenses of empl oyees and advis ory co uncil , and othe r nec essary expe nses, $122,000, of which such amounts as may be necessary may be expended by contract or otherwise for the services of consulting landscape architects without reference to the Classification Act of 1923, as amended, or civil-service rules . Nematology : For crop technological investigations, including the study of plant-infesting nematodes, $48,961 . Plant exploration and introduction : For investigations in seed and plant introduction, including the study, collection, purchase, testing, propagation, and distribution of rare and valuable seeds, bulbs, trees, shru bs, vines, cuttings , and plants from f oreign countries and from our possessions, and for experiments with reference to their introduction and cultivation in this country, $204,483 . Plant nutrition : For plant-nutrition investigations, $16,024 . Rubber and other tropical plants : For investigation of crops, from tropical r egions, an d for the study and improvemen t of rubbe r plants by cultural methods, breeding, acclimatization, adaptation, and selec- tion, and for inve stigation of their diseases, $46,749 . Seed investigations : Fo r study ing and testin g comme rcial s eeds, including the testing of samples of seeds of grasses, clover, or alfalfa, and lawn-grass seeds secured in the open market, and where such samples ar e found to be adulte rated or m isbranded the result s of the tests shall be published together with the names of the persons by whom the seeds were offered for sale, and for carrying out the provi- sions of the Act approved August 24, 1912 (U . S . C ., title 7, sees . 111-114), entitled " An Act to regulate f oreign com merce by p rohibit- ing the admission into the United States of certain adulterated grain and seeds unfit for seeding purposes", as amended by the Act approved April 26, 1926 (U . S .
